The former ICC CEO Geoff Allardice has praised the swift redevelopment of stadiums in Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, which was completed in record time.
During the launch ceremony held at Hazuri Bagh of the Royal Fort in Lahore, Allardice praised the modernization of both the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and the National Stadium in Karachi, noting their completion in only 117 days as a significant achievement for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Allardice described it as a pleasure to see the stadiums in their modern form, adding that Pakistan has a golden opportunity to showcase its passion for cricket during the Champions Trophy 2025.
Reflecting on his memories of watching Pakistan win the Champions Trophy at The Oval, he promised fans would witness top-tier cricket over the next two weeks.
The launch ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, government and political figures, former cricketers, and Champions Trophy brand ambassadors like Tim Southee of New Zealand and former South African batsman Duminy.
Pakistan’s 2017 Champions Trophy-winning captain and ambassador for 2025 Sarfaraz Ahmed along 2017 Champions Trophy winning team also attended the event.
