A total of thirteen teams have competed across the eight editions of the Champions Trophy, with eight teams participating in the 2017 tournament.

Australia and India are the most successful teams, each winning the tournament twice, while South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, West Indies, and Pakistan have each won it once.

Seven national teams have participated in every edition of the tournament so far.

Pakistan is the reigning champion, having won the 2017 edition in England and Wales and now hosting the tournament.

The tournament was earlier slated to be held entirely in Pakistan, however, the arch-rival India decided not to send its players to the host country citing security concerns despite the PCB’s surety of foolproof security for the sports persons.
