The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) issues the Family Registration Certificate (FRC) to Pakistani citizens, verifying their family composition. This important document is required for various purposes both within Pakistan and abroad.
Why is the FRC Needed?
In Pakistan:
- Government Jobs: Needed for certain government job applications.
- Educational Admissions: Required for enrolling children in specific schools or universities.
- Legal Matters: Used in family-related legal proceedings.
- Welfare Schemes: Essential for accessing government welfare programs and social schemes.
Abroad:
- Visa Applications: Required for visa applications to prove family relationships.
- Immigration: Used for verifying family ties in immigration processes.
- Embassy Use: Helps in consular services at Pakistani embassies and consulates.
- International Admissions: Needed for enrolling children in foreign educational institutions.
Types of FRC:
The FRC can be obtained in three categories:
- By Birth: Includes family details such as parents and siblings.
- By Marriage: Includes spouse and children.
- By Adoption: Lists guardian details.
Eligibility and Process
To apply for an FRC, applicants must be registered with NADRA and possess a 13-digit computerized national identity card (CNIC). If an individual is not registered or does not have a CNIC, they should first apply for a CNIC or B-form (for minors).
Applications for the FRC can be made at any NADRA Registration Centre (NRC), through the Pak-Identity mobile application, or at the relevant Pakistani mission office abroad for overseas Pakistanis.
FRC Fee
As of February 2025, the fee for issuing the FRC is Rs 1,000 for both normal and executive categories.
