Karachi: Four killed, 24 injured in aerial firing incidents

Karachi aerial firing 2025

In the first 26 days of 2025, four people, including two children and a girl, has been killed due to indiscriminate aerial firing in Karachi.

The number of casualties from such incidents has seen a concerning rise, with 24 people also injured, including 17 men, 4 women, and 3 children.

The Chhipa Foundation reported that the situation in the city has worsened, with 11 fatalities and 345 injuries due to aerial firing in 2024 alone.

Despite increasing incidents, the Karachi Police appears to have failed to prevent these dangerous practices.

The alarming trend continues as the community is left to deal with the aftermath of reckless gunfire in public spaces, leading to more lives lost and many others affected by injuries. Local authorities have yet to introduce effective measures to curb aerial firing in the city.

Earlier to this, the number of civilians killed in Karachi this month due to resistance during dacoity attempts has reached five till now, while the police in the city failed to curb street criminals.

According to police reports, recently, a father of three children, named Abdul Moeez, was killed over resisting robbery bid in Karachi’s Dastgir area.

After facing resistance from the victim, the two robbers – who intercepted Moeez outside his house early in the morning – opened fire, leaving him dead on the spot before escaping the scene.
