All public educational institutions in Sindh will remain closed on January 28 to observe Shab-e-Miraj, the Night of Ascent, as announced in an official statement.
According to the notification, all public and private educational institutions in Sindh will remain closed on January 28 (Tuesday) in observance of Shab-i-Meraj.
Shab-i-Meraj, which falls on the 27th of Rajab, marks the Holy Prophet Muhammad’s (Peace Be Upon Him) Night of Ascent.
The holiday is observed annually, with schools and workplaces typically closed for the occasion with Muslims around the world offer prayers and participating in religious gatherings to commemorate this significant event.
About Shab-e-Miraj
The 27th of Rajab of the Islamic calendar marks the Isra (journey) and Mairaj (ascension) of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to meet Allah Almighty.
On this night, Prophet (PBUH) traveled through the seven heavens on the heavenly steed ‘al-Buraq,’ reaching the closest point to the almighty.
During this event, the five daily prayers (Salat) were made obligatory for Muslims.
