Thar Desert Train Safari Karachi City National

Sindh govt to start ‘Thar Desert Train Safari’ from Karachi

Sindh Department of Culture and Tourism announced the launch of the Thar Desert Train Safari next month, with trains to Khokhrapar will operate from Karachi.

The initiative aims to boost tourism and showcase the cultural and natural beauty of Sindh.

Announced during a meeting chaired by Provincial Minister for Culture and Tourism Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, the safari will run from Karachi to Khokhrapar, passing through Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, and Chhor.

Passengers will experience Sindh’s vibrant culture and stunning desert scenery.

“This initiative will highlight Sindh’s rich cultural heritage and natural landscapes,” said Shah.

In addition to the train safari, plans include a jeep rally in Tharparkar and the two-day Lahooti Festival in Larkana, beginning February 15.

These events are part of a broader effort to promote Sindh as a hub of cultural and tourism activities, in line with Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s vision.

To further enhance tourism, the Sindh government last year reduced fees for filming, drama shoots, and photography at various historical sites.

Fees for iconic locations such as Mohenjo-Daro and Makli have been slashed from Rs 200,000 to Rs 50,000, and other sites like Quaid-e-Azam House Museum and Rani Kot Fort now charge Rs 30,000.
