Karachi has experienced a concerning surge in fatalities due to road accidents, resistance during robberies, and celebratory aerial firing in the first two weeks of January 2025, according to a report from the Chhipa Foundation.

The report revealed that 36 people lost their lives in various traffic incidents, with 528 others, including children, elderly individuals, and young adults, sustaining injuries.

Additionally, three people were killed in incidents of robbery resistance, and over 15 others were injured in similar events since the beginning of the year.

Among the notable cases, two individuals were killed in Zaman Town within 12 days. Saahil Masih was murdered during a robbery attempt, while Asif was killed at Ghaghar Phatak.

In another tragic incident, Hafiz Muzaffar was fatally shot after attempting to alert others about a group of robbers.

Despite the severity of these incidents, the police in Malir and Korangi have yet to make any arrests, raising concerns about the effectiveness of law enforcement in the city.

Aerial firing also claimed a life, and 11 others were injured, including nine men and two women during the same period.
