A crypto trader – who was abducted and released after paying around $340,000 worth of digital currency in Karachi – identified the two men who kidnapped him during an identification parade conducted by a judicial magistrate.
After completing legal formalities, the Investigation Officer, Makhdoom Moinuddin, presented the two suspects – Mohammed Rizwan Shah and Tariq Hasan Shah – said to be private persons, before Judicial Magistrate (West) Hasnain Gul for the identification parade, as reported by local media.
The suspects were lined up along with dummies and the complainant rightly picked them out.
The victim of a kidnapping case claimed that Rizwan had threatened him with severe consequences. The victim also identified Tariq Shah as the individual who interrogated him during his captivity.
Recently, two constables from the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) were among eight suspects arrested in connection with the kidnapping of a crypto trader, who was released after transferring ransom money into the suspects’ digital wallets.
An anti-terrorism court (ATC) had remanded the eight arrested suspects into police custody.
The IO informed the court that several accomplices, including Hamad, Zaman, Muzamil, Ali Raza, and Rasheed Lodhi, were still on the run.
A case was filed at Manghopir police station against the suspects under sections 365-A (kidnapping or abducting for extortion) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code, along with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997.
