Departments raise concerns over PCB’s strike force camp during President’s trophy

PCB strike force camp

The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) decision to hold a “Strike Force Camp” for hard hitters during the ongoing President’s Trophy has faced strong opposition from several participating departments.

Teams such as SNGPL, WAPDA, PTT, and Vishaal Associates have expressed their reservations over the timing of the camp, which is set to take place while there is a tournament underway.

Sources close to the development reveal that departments find it difficult to comprehend why a camp for 25 players is being organized during a critical phase of the competition.

The departments argue that if key power hitters from their teams are sent to the camp, it would significantly weaken their line-ups, leading to potential losses in the games of the ongoing tournament.

The departments have requested the PCB to reconsider its decision and delay the camp until the conclusion of the President’s Trophy, which would allow players to focus on their current commitments without any conflict.

According to the official notification, PCB announced to organize a 90-day Pakistan Strike Force Camp in Lahore from January 13, 2025.

Meanwhile, the below listed players are required to report for the camp by January 12.
