Starlink, SpaceX’s satellite internet service, has rapidly expanded its availability across Asia, bringing high-speed, low-latency internet to remote and underserved regions.

As of January 2025, Starlink operates in several countries across the continent, including Japan, Sri Lanka, and Mongolia offering internet access via a constellation of satellites in low earth orbit (LEO).

Meanwhile, in India and Pakistan SpaceX’s satellite internet service is awaiting regulatory approvals from the authorities to officially start its operation in the said countries.

Starlink’s services are widely available in Japan, providing internet to rural and urban customers.

  1. United States: USD 110 per month, with a one-time hardware cost of USD 599.
  2. United Kingdom: £89 per month, with a one-time hardware cost of £499.
  3. Australia: AUD 139 per month, with a one-time hardware cost of AUD 709.

In Japan, customers pay around ¥6,600 ($41.67) per month for the residential service plan for Starlink while the hardware [Starlink Kit] – includes a Gen 3 router – costs around ¥6,600 ($314.43) and other mounts and accessories cost around ¥5,000 ($31.57).

In Yamen, customers pay around $50 per month for the residential and $35 per month for a residential lite service plan to Starlink while the standard hardware [Starlink Kit] – includes a Gen 3 router – costs around $389.

In Mongolia, customers pay around MNT 210,000 ($61.80) per month for the residential and MNT 118,000 ($34.73) per month for a residential lite service plan to Starlink while the standard hardware [Starlink Kit] – includes a Gen 3 router – costs around MNT 1,525,000 ($444.98) and the mini Starlink kit cost around MNT 680,000 ($198.42)
