Sunni Ulema Council protests Karachi Karachi City National

Sunni Ulema Council warns of protests at 60 locations across Karachi

The Sunni Ulema Council of Pakistan warned that protests would be staged at 60 locations across Karachi if the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) protest did not end in the next 24 hours.

The council, led by Allama Muhammad Ahmed Ludhianvi, supported the Apex Committee’s decisions and called for a strict operation in Kurram Agency’s Parachinar, demanding the removal of weapons and the arrest of criminals without any discrimination.

Ludhianvi, along with Allama Ghazi Aurangzeb Farooqui and other scholars, held a press conference at Jamia Masjid Rahmani in Islamabad.

The Sunni Ulema Council of Pakistan also threatened to hold sit-ins at 60 different locations in Karachi if the ongoing MWM protests were not ended within 24 hours, potentially spreading across the country.

During the press conference, the council – calling for an investigation into the source of weapons – accused Iran and India of fueling violence in Parachinar, where Sunni civilians are being attacked, houses and markets are being damaged, innocent people are being killed, and Iranian-made weapons are allegedly being used in these attacks.

The Sunni Ulema Council condemned the ongoing foreign conspiracy aimed at creating sectarian violence in the country.

The council accused certain elements of manipulating protests to shield criminals and criticized the sit-ins as a cover for unlawful activities.

The council demanded that security agencies take strict action against those responsible for the violence in Parachinar and the sit-ins disrupting the nation.

They also called for the implementation of the 2007 Marri Agreement, the rehabilitation of displaced families, and the confiscation of illegal weapons in Kurram and Parachinar.

The press conference also featured leaders from various religious groups, including Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) and the Barelvi sect.

They pledged unity against foreign conspiracies and called for the swift resolution of issues in Kurram and Parachinar.
