Karachi’s Commissioner, Syed Hasan Naqvi, has imposed section 144 in the Keamari district.
According to media reports, the commissioner Karachi imposed a complete ban on dumping debris, garbage, and cutting mangrove forests within the district, effective from December 23, 2024, to February 2, 2025.
These measures aim to protect the mangroves and coastal land from encroachments.
Anyone found violating these rules will face legal action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The decision was made upon the request of Deputy Commissioner Kiamari, Tariq Hussain Chandio.
The Sindh government has decided to impose Section 144 in Sindh on August 14 to curb aerial firing during Independence Day celebrations.
Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar told reporters at the Sindh Assembly that firing in the air is a dangerous and wrongful act, especially during national celebrations.
He urged citizens to avoid such practices, stressing that Independence Day should be celebrated peacefully and responsibly.
According to the minister, Section 144 will be enforced for two days across the province to discourage aerial firing and other dangerous activities.
He said that the Sindh government is observing Independence Day with full enthusiasm, with both official and non-official events taking place in various cities.
