Govt announces public holidays schedule for 2025

The Cabinet Division has released the official holiday calendar for 2025, outlining both public and optional holidays for the year.

According to the notification, the first public holiday of the year will fall on February 5, followed by Pakistan Day on March 23, and three days off for Eid-ul-Fitr in March.

Labour Day will be observed on May 1, and Youm-e-Takbeer, marking Pakistan’s nuclear tests, will be a holiday on May 28.

Holidays for Eid-ul-Azha will be observed 7 to 9 June, with Ashura on Muharram 9 and 10 falling on July 5 and 6.

Independence Day will be celebrated on August 14 with a public holiday.

Additionally, Eid Milad-un-Nabi will be observed on September 5 or 6, and Iqbal Day will be a holiday on November 9.

The final public holiday of the year will be on December 25, for Quaid-e-Azam Day, while the day after Christmas will also be a day off for Christians only.

The following dates will be observed as bank holidays. However, the Banks/DFIs/MFBs will remain closed to the public, but employees will still be required to report for work, as per the notification.
