Karachi International Book Fair to kicks off on Dec 12

The 19th Karachi International Book Fair (KIBF), Pakistan’s largest literary event, is set to begin on December 12 at the Expo Centre.

Organized by the Pakistan Publishers and Booksellers Association (PPBA), the fair will run until December 16, featuring over 330 local publishers and 40 international exhibitors from 17 countries.

KIBF Convener Waqar Mateen announced that halls 1, 2, and 3 will showcase books spanning diverse subjects, attracting families, students, and bibliophiles nationwide, while the event timings will start from 10 AM till 9 PM.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah will inaugurate the event, which will also welcome high-profile attendees, including the Commissioner of Karachi and the Sindh Minister of Education as well as book lovers, students from all groups and ages, professionals from all walks of life, academicians, writers, librarians and the general public.

With its roots dating back to 2005, KIBF has evolved into a premier consumer and trade fair, uniting publishers, booksellers, librarians, and literary enthusiasts under one roof.

This year’s participants include publishers from Iran, India, Turkey, China, and other countries to attend the international event.

Last year, the fair drew an impressive 500,000 visitors, a figure organizers hope to surpass this year, further cementing KIBF’s reputation as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s literary culture.
