The National Assembly was informed on Wednesday that Gwadar Port is operating at full capacity, managing general cargo, containers, and other operations efficiently.

Parliamentary Secretary for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Wajiha Qamar stated during Question Hour that the port fits vessels of up to 50,000 DWT and has the infrastructure for bulk cargo and container handling.

She stated that under the Afghanistan-Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement, multiple shipments were successfully processed.

In related discussions, Parliamentary Secretary for Finance Saad Waseem Sheikh confirmed that Personal Income Tax rates for salaried individuals remain unchanged in the current fiscal year’s budget.

Meanwhile, Parliamentary Secretary for Commerce Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti expressed optimism about Pakistan’s rice exports, targeting a record $5 billion this fiscal year.

He noted a remarkable increase in rice exports, which surged to $3.8 billion in the last fiscal year from $2.1 billion in 2022-23.

From July to October this year, rice export values increased by 48.81%, with quantities rising 43.77% compared to the same period last year.
