Nasir asks sect to approach federal govt over gas shortage in Sindh

The Energy Minister of Sindh, Nasir Hussain Shah, has directed the secretary of the Energy Department to formally approach the federal government over the ongoing gas shortage and low pressure issues in the province.

In a statement released on Friday, Shah stressed that Sindh, despite being the largest producer of natural gas in the country, is being deprived of its own resources.

He pointed out that with the arrival of winter, gas loadshedding has intensified, leaving families without sufficient gas and disrupting daily life, including causing children to attend school without breakfast.

Shah urged the federal government to implement Article 158, which guarantees the province’s right to priority gas supply due to its contribution to the nation’s production.

He also called for Sindh to have proper representation on the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), which he believes would help address ongoing inequities related to gas distribution.

The energy minister appealed to both the President and Prime Minister to take immediate action to resolve the gas crisis in Sindh.
