Govt decides to arrest PTI protestors moving towards D-Chowk

Security has been tightened around D-Chowk as the government takes strict measures to counter the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest.

Authorities have decided to arrest individuals attempting to move toward D-Chowk and key PTI leaders leading the rally, as reported by ARY News.

This follows an announcement by PTI founder Imran Khan, currently imprisoned in Adiala Jail, urging supporters to gather at D-Chowk for a protest and sit-in on November 24, 2024.

Convoys from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab, led by key figures like Bushra Bibi and Ali Amin Gandapur, have been heading to Islamabad despite roadblocks and containers set up by the government.

Talks between PTI representatives and the government reportedly offered an alternative protest location at Sangjani, with the potential formation of a committee to address prisoner release demands.

However, tensions escalated after a vehicle rammed into Rangers personnel on the Srinagar Highway, resulting in four martyrs and several injuries.

Following the incident, the government invoked Article 245, deploying the Pakistan Army at D-Chowk with orders to use force, including shoot-on-sight directives against miscreants.
