Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has shattered records to become the most expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The milestone was achieved during the ongoing IPL 2025 player auction, held over two days in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
On Sunday, Punjab Kings initially made headlines by securing Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer for an unprecedented INR 267.5 million, making him the league’s highest-priced player.
However, the record was short-lived as Lucknow Super Giants outbid all rivals to acquire Rishabh Pant for a staggering INR 270 million.

Meanwhile, Indian all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer became the third most expensive player of IPL 2025, joining Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 237.5 million.
