Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed the local government department to submit detailed, date-wise completion timelines for three major projects – Karimabad Underpass, Korangi Causeway Bridge, and Malir Expressway – currently underway in Karachi.
Chairing a review meeting at CM House on Monday, Murad Ali Shah questioned the delays despite the timely allocation of funds.
“Why is this excessive delay being faced when the funds have already been released?” he asked.
Key officials, including Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, and project directors, attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the CM was told that the Karimabad Underpass, a Rs3.8 billion project, spans 1,080 meters, with 35 percent of the work completed, with the required 212 precast beams, 151 have been installed.

CM Shah instructed to include an effective drainage system to prevent rainwater accumulation inside the underpass and called for an expedited development of a roundabout near Meena Bazaar to ease traffic flow.
CM Sindh was briefed that the Korangi Causeway Bridge, a Rs 6.4 billion project, is scheduled for completion by January 31, 2025, and is likely to face significant delays as the bridge’s progress stands at 30 percent, with 300 out of 400 piles and 504 out of 600 beams completed.
The CM directed Saeed Ghani to personally oversee the construction to avoid further delays in the completion of the project.
Murad Ali Shah was further briefed about the Malir Expressway project, spanning 38.889 km from Jam Sadiq Bridge to Kathore, the Malir Expressway’s first segment is targeted for completion by December 25, 2024.
CM Shah ordered the reconstruction of the road from Shah Faisal to the airport to ensure connectivity and a smooth flow of traffic.
“I want you to submit detailed date-wise completion dates of all three projects and then I won’t tolerate any delay,” he said categorically.
