Karachi: Heavy smog causes significant delays in trains’ schedule

Dense smog across various regions of Pakistan has led to extended delays for trains departing from Karachi Cantt Station, leaving passengers frustrated and stranded.

The situation has resulted in hours-long delays, significantly impacting schedules and disrupting passengers’ travel plans.

Passengers reported that the Khyber Mail, scheduled to arrive at Karachi Cantt Station at 10 PM, only reached at 5 AM, causing considerable inconvenience.

Some passengers expressed their dissatisfaction, pointing out that they received no updates or assistance from the railway administration regarding the delays.

Additionally, the Sukkur Express has faced frequent delays, and despite the disruptions, the railway authorities are reportedly refusing to issue ticket refunds to the standard passengers.

While addressing the concerns, the CEO of Pakistan Railways, Aamir Baloch, stated that despite challenging weather conditions, train services continue to operate.

He explained that trains are running at reduced speeds in areas affected by smog to ensure the safety of the passengers and the residents, while asserting that the railway department didn’t cancel any scheduled trains, however, delays remain an unavoidable issue under the current weather circumstances.
