In response to India’s refusal to play in the country, Pakistan is set to host the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, with government sources indicating that no “hybrid model” for the tournament will be considered.
This firm stance reflects Pakistan’s commitment to hosting the event as planned, asserting that if India refuses to participate in Pakistan, the Pakistan cricket team will refrain from competing against India in future international events until relations normalize between the arch-rivals.
Sources within the government have also suggested that, if India opts out of the Champions Trophy 2025, Pakistan might withdraw from participating in the T20 World Cup 2026 and other ICC events expected to be held in India.
Pakistan emphasizes that it has completed preparations to host the tournament, noting that international teams have previously toured the country and are willing to come again for the ICC event.

Earlier to this the announcement of the official schedule for the Champions Trophy 2025, which is set to be played in Pakistan, has been delayed due to India’s pending decision regarding travel to the country.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) was scheduled to unveil the tournament’s schedule during a ceremony in Lahore on November 11, marking 100 days until the event.
However, the event was canceled after India failed to provide clarification on its participation in the tournament.
According to the ICC, discussions are still ongoing with the boards of the host nation and the participating teams, particularly regarding India’s stance.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has indicated that the event was intended to mark the launch of the trophy tour and tournament branding, but it remains uncertain whether it will be rescheduled due to logistical challenges, including Lahore’s current smog situation.
