Karachi university students create “world’s smallest” nebulizer

The final-year pharmacy students at the University of Karachi (UoK) claimed to have developed world’s smallest rechargeable nebulizer.

Designed to offer portable respiratory therapy for patients with breathing difficulties, this innovative device, less than an inch wide, operates up to 35 minutes per charge and can last two days between charges.

As per the students, the device is made from eco-friendly bioplastics and is ideal for use on the go, in offices, or while traveling.

The group leader of the project highlighted that, unlike bulky and noisy traditional nebulizers priced at Rs 8,000-10,000, this new model costs under Rs 2,000.

The team aims to make respiratory therapy more accessible, especially for children and elderly patients managing asthma or chest infections.
