In a move to facilitate the passengers, Pakistan Railways (PR) on Monday announced to run a special train from Karachi to Raiwind.
The railway minister asserted that the first train, comprised of 14 economy-class coaches, will depart from Karachi on November 06 at 1:30pm and is expected to reach Raiwind around 8:00pm on November 07.
The newly launched special train is expected to generate around Rs 8.5 million in revenue and will assist in achieving the target of Rs 100 billion for the next fiscal year (2024-25).
Earlier this year, Pakistan Railways (PR) reported an unprecedented revenue of Rs88 billion for the fiscal year 2023-24, ending on June 30.
This achievement marks a 40 percent increase over the previous year, surpassing the initial target of Rs73 billion.
The revenue sources were diverse, with Rs47 billion from ticket sales, Rs28 billion from freight services, and Rs13 billion from railway land leasing and other channels.
Speaking with a local news outlet, Pakistan Railways CEO Amir Ali Baloch expressed gratitude to passengers for their trust, noting the success of Eid special trains, which saw a 100 percent booking rate.
Mr. Baloch attributed this revenue surge to continuous improvements in PR services.
