2 MQM leaders arrested in Karachi on charges of disturbing law and order

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) London is once again facing difficulties after a few days of trying to become active in Karachi.

The organization’s nominated convener and deputy convener have been detained under the MPO. The London Group recently began its activities after five years of silence.

An order has been issued by the Sindh Home Department stating that the IG Sindh has sent a letter stating that Kanwar Khalid Younis and Momin Khan have been transferred by the MQM London Coordinating Committee.

The order states that according to the intelligence report, the two have started their illegal activities in Karachi. The presence of both in a public meeting place can create a problem of law and order. Therefore, IG Sindh has recommended that both be detained under the MPO on charges of disturbing law and order.

The government, while endorsing their position, has decided to detain them for 90 days and they will be kept in Central Jail, Karachi.

However, MQM London said in a tweet that the liaison committee responsibilities have been withdrawn from Kanwar Khalid Younis and Momin Khan Momin due to ill health.
