In a momentous event, the inauguration ceremony of the revitalized primary and secondary schools belonging to the Veraval Turk Community took place, courtesy of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA). The ceremony was graced by the presence of Rana Hussain, the Caretaker Minister of Education for Sindh Province, Cemal Sangu, Consul General of Türkiye to Karachi, Halil İbrahim Başaran, TİKA Karachi Programme Coordinator, and various other dignitaries.
Addressing the audience, Caretaker Education Minister of Sindh, Rana Hussain, expressed her admiration for the newly renovated schools, highlighting the attractive and interactive classrooms conducive to students’ growth. She extended gratitude to TİKA and Türkiye for their invaluable support in the educational sector.
Consul General of Türkiye to Karachi, Cemal Sangu, conveyed Turkiye’s unwavering commitment to education, citing the presence of 28 Pak Turk Maarif Schools in Pakistan. He expressed joy in inaugurating the two schools belonging to the Veraval Turk Community, furnished by TİKA.
TİKA Karachi Programme Coordinator, Halil İbrahim Başaran, shared insights, stating that TİKA had implemented nearly 30 projects in the education sector in Sindh and Balochistan Provinces between 2019 and 2023. The Veraval Turk Community schools are a testament to this ongoing collaboration, and Başaran affirmed TİKA’s commitment to supporting the education sector in cooperation with the Sindh Education Ministry.
Hussain Ghulam, the Secretary General of Veraval Turkish Community, expressed gratitude, acknowledging the support from Turkish sisters and brothers who, from thousands of miles away, contributed to the development of the Veraval Turk Community School. The school, currently catering to 450 students, is now equipped to accommodate an additional 450 students in morning and evening shifts.
TİKA played a pivotal role in the renovation of two schools, expanding their capacities through the construction of additional floors, refurbishing old buildings, providing school furniture, establishing a computer laboratory, a modern science laboratory, a library, and installing solar energy to meet energy requirements.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony, led by Minister Rana Hussain and Consul General Cemal Sangu, marked the commencement of education for nearly five hundred students in their newly-renovated schools. The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency, with its continuous efforts since 2010, remains committed to contributing to the development of Pakistan, especially in the realm of education.
