Sindh transport authority bans Qingqi rickshaws for commute

The Sindh transport department imposed a ban on all six- and nine-seater Qingqi rickshaws across the province.

According to the Sindh transport department spokesperson, the Qingqi rickshaws were running without route permits and documents.

The transport department has directed the traffic police to launch a crackdown against said Qingqi rickshaws running on roads without their route permits and relevant papers.

In doing so, the Sindh transport department has written to DIG Traffic police, all SSPs, and the regional secretaries.

Relevant to note that the same government back in 2019 allowed six and nine seat rickshaws to resume services on basis of the following conditions:

The rickshaws should have a valid fitness certificate from the Motor Vehicle Examination Centre of the Sindh transport and mass transit department.

The vehicles are also supposed to have a valid registration number plate issued by the Motor Vehicle Registration Wing of the excise and taxation department.
