Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Ali Shallwani has ordered the removal of all billboards across the city. The order was passed at a meeting on Wednesday which was attended by members of the local government and local administrators.
The Commissioner stated that these billboards were illegal and had been installed without prior permission. He further warned that strict action will be taken if the billboards are not taken down within 24 hours.
The ban is to be implemented in cantonment areas, on the land of government offices, and in housing societies.
In July, the Supreme Court had ordered the federal government and cantonment boards to remove these boards from all public spaces and to submit compliance reports across all major cities of the country.
