OceanGate announces ambitious project to build floating colony on Venus by 2050

OceanGate, the manufacturer of the Titan submersible that tragically imploded in the Atlantic Ocean recently, has unveiled an audacious new plan to build a colony on Venus and send 1,000 humans to the planet by the year 2050.

Venus, often referred to as Earth’s sister planet, presents numerous challenges for human habitation. Its atmosphere is dense and poisonous, mainly consisting of carbon dioxide, and its surface is engulfed in thick yellowish clouds made of sulfuric acid. Surface temperatures soar to extreme levels, reaching up to 900 degrees Fahrenheit (475 degrees Celsius).

Named "Humans 2 Venus,” this ambitious project aims to establish a "floating colony” on Venus. Guillermo Sohnlein, the co-founder of OceanGate, is leading the endeavor.

In response to skeptics, Guillermo Sohnlein asserted that his plan has no flaws, showing confidence in the feasibility of the venture. He emphasized that his project is not as ambitious as Elon Musk’s goal of settling one million people on Mars by 2050, but it still represents a significant milestone in space exploration.

The recent accident involving the Titan Submersible served as a reminder of the inherent risks in such ventures. Guillermo acknowledged that there is no such thing as 100% safety in space exploration, but the pursuit of knowledge and expansion into new frontiers requires embracing some level of risk.
