A tragic incident was reported from Mian Channu, where a man murdered a 15-year-old girl from Karachi.
A young girl, whose body was discovered on March 11, has been identified as Maimoona, a resident of Karachi.
According to police reports, the victim left Karachi a few months ago to marry a man she met on Facebook.
Police confirmed on Thursday that she was murdered by her Facebook friend, identified as Mahmood, in Chak 126/15-L and was arrested just hours after the body was discovered.
Authorities used geofencing and modern investigation techniques to solve the blind murder case.
During interrogation, the suspect revealed that he and Maimoona had developed a friendship on Facebook, which later turned into an illicit relationship. As a result, Maimoona became pregnant.
She traveled from Karachi to Mian Channu to confront him and demand marriage. However, Amjad refused and, instead of accepting responsibility, he decided to kill her.
According to Amjad’s confession, he tortured Maimoona to death at his home and later dumped her body in an isolated area of the village. Investigations are ongoing as police continue to gather evidence.
