The Karachi Commissioner’s Office has released a report on its ongoing campaign against profiteering, revealing strict action taken against 176 vendors on the 11th day of Ramadan.

According to the report, authorities collected Rs 1.634 million in fines, sealed six shops, and auctioned goods from 175 profiteers at government rates. Price inspections were conducted at over 1,000 shops across the city.

Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to controlling prices and directed Deputy Commissioners to continue their crackdown on profiteers..

In 11 days, a total of 1,803 vendors were fined, 119 were arrested, and 99 shops were sealed, with total fines amounting to Rs. 24.98 crore.

The Sindh government has appointed 77 officers as Deputy Commissioners across various districts, granting them judicial powers to monitor and control prices. The Home Department has officially notified these powers, which will remain in effect throughout Ramadan.

Additionally, the Commissioner’s Office has sought explanations from officers in several sub-divisions for negligence in enforcing price controls. Those failing in their duties will be held accountable, Naqvi warned.
