In a bid to curtail the influx of migrants, the Conservative government in the UK has initiated a crackdown by significantly increasing the minimum wage requirement for skilled workers seeking entry. The threshold, which previously stood at £26,200, has now been elevated to £38,700.
As part of the new measures, individuals arriving on health and social worker visas will be exempted from the heightened salary limit. Home Secretary James Cleverley unveiled these changes in Parliament, emphasizing that skilled workers arriving from overseas will face stricter regulations, including restrictions on bringing parents and children.
The announcement further outlined that foreign students pursuing education in the UK would no longer have the option to bring their close relatives with them.
