Sindh closes down shrines amid Covid-19 case jump

The Sindh government in its fresh measure to contain Covid-19 spread across the province has closed down shrines for visitors till January 31. 

The department of aukaf issued a notification to that effect announcing closure of shrines across Sindh for two months.

The shrines to see shutdown include that of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, Bhitt Shah, Dargah Serwari Nooh, Sachal Sarmast, among others.

The administration has evacuated the shrines off all their visitors and directed staff members to carry on their duties in accordance with coronavirus SOPs.

Meanwhile, the coronavirus has claimed lives of 13 more people while freshly infecting 1,382 new bodies in the last 24 hours, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said in daily briefing.

The chief minister said that the death toll has reached 2,858, while the overall cases in the province stand at 166,033.
