SHC issued contempt of court notices to DHA and Cantonment Board Clifton


Administrator of the Defence Housing Authority and the Cantonment Board Clifton CEO have received contempt of court notices from Sindh High Court (SHC) over Karachi rain issue.


The petition was heard in Karachi Court over the issue of last year’s downpour on Tuesday, which was filed by the residents of DHA and Clifton against the failure of administrative board. It stresses on providing the relief to the people and the clear water to the residents of the area followed by the last year’s urban flooding in the city in August 2020.


The bench expressed their concern on the upcoming monsoon said, it’s just around the corner while conveyed displeasure over the performances of these bodies and asked, “what measures have you taken for the improvement of the drainage system in the area”?



The court has also summoned responses from authorities of national and provincial disaster management of within 10 days.


Earlier last year, a complaint was filed by CBC against the protestors who were out on the road, calling for the immediate actions against it. Residents of DHA and Clifton protested when the rain has wreaked havoc in the locality last year, the area was also deprived of electricity as well.


Residents challenged the FIR in court and filed a petition against it. Since then, the case is being further proceeded.
