MQM-P still undecided over no confidence motion against PM

In spite of holding a long meeting with the members of PTI on Monday, MQM-P leader Waseem Akhtar has said that the party remains undecided on the matter of supporting the prime minister while he faces the threat of a No-Confidence Motion.

He said that he and his peers tabled their demands in today’s meeting and will make their decision based on the fruition of these demands.

Sources from within the ruling party claim that MQM-P was offered anothe ministry in the government in exchange for their support. These reports have not been substantiated by MQM-P leaders on record.

On the other hand, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif on Monday tabled the no-confidence motion against PM Imran Khan in the lower house.

During the session, Deputy NA Speaker Qasim Suri asked the members of the Parliament, who are in favour of the motion, to stand up so that their numbers could be counted.

Following the counting of the members who stood up in favour of the motion, the deputy speaker approved a discussion on the no-confidence motion, adding that it will take place on Thursday, March 31, at 4 pm. However, the voting on the resolution is expected to take place between April 1-4.
