Mobile phone imports have witnessed a remarkable 76% increase last month, primarily attributed to the relaxation of import restrictions by the State Bank.
In August of the previous year, mobile phones valued at PKR 13.92 billion were imported. However, the recent surge in imports has boosted the figure significantly, with mobile phones worth PKR 32.71 billion being imported.
According to data from the Bureau of Statistics, August 2023 saw the import of mobile phones worth PKR 32.71 billion, compared to PKR 19.14 billion in July of the same year.
The import expenditures for mobile phones in August 2023 amounted to $11.13 million, whereas in July 2023, it stood at $6.81 million.
It’s noteworthy that the total import value of mobile phones in the last fiscal year amounted to PKR 136.84 billion.
