Karachi residents have been enduring severe gas shortage in recent days, causing them mental distress in the month of Ramazan.
The shortage has also caused a significant increase in the sales and prices of new LPG cylinders. Over the last 15 days, empty cylinder prices have risen by 40%. Six months ago, a new empty cylinder with stove for domestic use was being sold for 4 thousand rupees, but now it costs 6 and a half thousand rupees.
Similarly, the price of a new cylinder of 11 kg for domestic use has gone up from 7 thousand rupees to 10 thousand rupees. Hotels in the area have also been affected by the gas shortage, forcing them to purchase LPG gas cylinders and gas. As a result, the price of a 45 kg commercial cylinder, which used to be priced at Rs 12,000, has increased to Rs 18,000.
The shortage has caused widespread concern and frustration among the people of Karachi, who are struggling to cope with the high cost of living. The government has been urged to take immediate action to address the issue and provide relief to the residents. The people are calling for the government to take steps to increase the supply of gas and to regulate the prices of LPG cylinders.
