Additional IG Karachi, Khadim Hussain Rind, has asserted that the crime rate in Karachi has seen a decline as a result of the ongoing operation to expel illegal immigrants, including Afghans, from the city. The repatriation of illegal foreign nationals, primarily Afghans, has been carried out in a dignified and secure manner, with approximately 441,893 illegal Afghans having left Pakistan so far.
In an exclusive conversation with ARY News, AIG Karachi Khadim Hussain highlighted the involvement of illegal Afghan residents in criminal activities such as dacoities and rape in Karachi. He noted that since the initiation of the operation and the departure of nearly 30,000 illegal Afghan individuals, the crime rate in the city has witnessed a notable drop.
“We are unsatisfied and working to reduce the crime rate further,” stated AIG Khadim Hussain Rind, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to enhance the overall security situation in Karachi.
This development aligns with the broader initiative to address security concerns and curb criminal activities associated with illegal immigrants. The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Sindh police recently claimed to have thwarted a potential terror plot by apprehending two “Afghan-trained” militants in Karachi. The arrested individuals, affiliated with a banned outfit, were reportedly planning an attack on the Karachi-Rohri train and had received training in bomb-making in Afghanistan.
The concerted efforts to repatriate illegal immigrants and address security challenges demonstrate a commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the residents of Karachi. Authorities remain vigilant in their pursuit of maintaining law and order while actively addressing threats posed by individuals involved in criminal activities and terrorism.
