Chief Meteorologist of Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted moderate heat wave in lower Sindh from September 22nd-24th. Nearing the end of the monsoon season, a low pressure is developing over Arabian Sea. The sea breeze will cease to blow leading to hot weather in the coastal region, the official stated.
Temperature are expected go up to 40 C in Karachi, and even higher in some parts, said Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Director Sardar Sarfaraz said.
The chief Meteorologist also predicted hot and humid weather in the port city for the next 24 hours.
Citizens have been warned to stay hydrated and sheltered.
The first heat wave this year was predicted from 1st to 3rd of May with temperature rising as high as 42 C. Authorities had taken measures to set up 112 health care centers and 185 cold water points.
The city appears to be undergoing weather extremes as only a month ago the city was drowning in rain water and gusty winds blew across.
