A sum of Rs 1.94 billion has been allocated by the Sindh Government for various developmental projects in Karachi for the financial year 2020-2021. This sum is to be used for 18 major ongoing and new projects.

Said that these projects include the Greater Karachi Water Sewerage Project (S-III) and the Greater Karachi Water Supply Project (K-IV) which will together incur Rs 11.4 billion.
The official added that the main aim was to complete the ongoing projects which were in their final stages and the government was in talks with the federal government to release its share for two main development projects in Karachi.
The minister also stressed on his government’s efforts to collaborate with the local governments to cater to their demands. He said that his government had decided to increase the share of the local governments in the province by 5%, going from Rs 74.5billion to Rs 78 billion for the financial year 2020-2021.
He further added that the government was also trying to lessen the burden of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and had given it financial assistance of Rs 10 billion. In addition. Karachi Development Authority has been given Rs204 million as grant-in-aid to cover its basic expenditure.
