Karachi receives light to heavy drizzle, precautionary measures in place

Despite earlier warnings from the city administration regarding heavy rain, Karachi experiences light to heavy drizzle across various parts of the city on Friday morning. Areas including I. I. Chundrigar Road, Saddar, Sarjani Town, Malir, North Karachi, Korangi Industrial Area, Orangi Town, Baldia Town, and Manghopir Northern Bypass report rainfall.

Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab assures residents of the city administration’s preparedness to mitigate any inconvenience caused by the rain. He highlights the deployment of suction vehicles and additional traffic wardens on major arteries to facilitate traffic flow.

The Sindh government declared a rain emergency in the province and announced that offices in Karachi would operate for half a day, while evening classes in schools were cancelled as a precautionary measure.

Meteorological experts predict heavy rain in specific areas of Karachi, including Gadap, Sarjani, and Malir, while light rain is recorded in other parts of the city. The spell of rain is expected to persist across Pakistan until March 3, with a possibility of heavy rain and snowfall in upper regions.

Fishermen in Balochistan are advised to refrain from venturing into the deep sea until the evening due to adverse weather conditions.
