Karachi mayor emphasizes sports promotion, plans Sports Complexes across districts

Mayor Murtaza Wahab underscored the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s commitment to promoting sports, citing the importance of healthy activities for societal well-being. Speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of a volleyball tournament at Garden Valley Hall, Mayor Wahab expressed the municipality’s efforts to foster sports at the grassroots level.

“We are working to establish sports complexes in all districts of Karachi to provide the youth with opportunities to develop their skills and showcase their talents,” stated the mayor. The initiative aims to create platforms for the youth to engage in healthy physical activities and enhance their overall well-being.

During the event, Mayor Wahab witnessed the final match of the volleyball tournament, commending the players for their exceptional performance. At the conclusion of the match, he distributed prizes to the winning players. The mayor highlighted that, akin to cricket, hockey, and football, volleyball holds a significant place in Pakistan, with national players excelling on the international stage.

The presence of PPP leader Sardar Khan and a sizable audience from Gilgit added to the vibrancy of the occasion. Mayor Wahab stressed the need to support sports at all levels, emphasizing that such activities play a vital role in attracting the youth toward healthier lifestyles. The promotion of sports aligns with broader efforts to encourage physical fitness and talent expression among the city’s youth.
