JI to plant 50,000 saplings to combat climate change in Karachi

In a concerted effort to combat the growing threat of climate change, Gulberg Town has embarked on an ambitious project to plant 50,000 saplings across the region. This initiative, praised as a significant step towards environmental preservation, was inaugurated by Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi, Munim Zafar Khan, alongside other notable figures.

The event, held in Gulberg Town, saw the participation of several key personalities, including Amir Jamaat-e-Islami District Gulberg Central and former Town Nazim Farooq Nimatullah, Chairman of Gulberg Town Nusratullah, Town Municipal Commissioner Abdul Hameed Sahag, Director of Parks Muhammad Nadeem Hanif, Assistant Commissioner Gulberg Ahmed Murtaza, and Secretary of the Karachi Press Club Shoaib Ahmed. Together, they planted saplings to mark the beginning of this extensive tree-planting campaign.

During the event, Munim Zafar Khan emphasized the critical importance of tree plantation in the face of escalating climate challenges. He pointed out that planting trees is not merely an act of beautification but a necessary step to mitigate the severe impacts of climate change.

“Given the rising concerns over climate change, planting trees is not just an option; it’s a necessity,” said Khan. “The only sustainable solution to combat these environmental challenges is to increase our green cover. By planting trees, we are not only protecting our environment but also ensuring a healthier future for the coming generations.”

Khan’s words resonated with the audience, highlighting the urgent need for collective action. He urged the community to take responsibility for nurturing the saplings and ensuring their growth, turning this initiative into a long-term commitment rather than a one-time effort.

The event underscored the importance of collaboration between community leaders, government officials, and local organizations in addressing environmental issues. Chairman Nusratullah of Gulberg Town, who played a pivotal role in organizing the initiative, expressed his gratitude towards all participants and reiterated the town’s commitment to environmental stewardship.

“The planting of 50,000 saplings is a significant step towards a greener Gulberg,” Nusratullah stated. “This initiative is a testament to what we can achieve when we work together. Our goal is to create a sustainable environment that will benefit everyone, and this is just the beginning.”

Town Municipal Commissioner Abdul Hameed Sahag also spoke on the occasion, emphasizing the logistical efforts involved in the initiative. He assured that the local administration would provide all necessary support to ensure the success of the tree plantation drive.
