JI to move court against Karachi LG polls postponement

Jamat-e-Islami (JI) said on Wednesday that it will file a lawsuit to challenge the ECP’s decision to postpone local body elections in Hyderabad and Karachi.

Details indicate that the head of JI Karachi, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, said that the ECP made a “shameful” choice with the support of the Sindh government. He stated that the JI will start a public opposition campaign and file a lawsuit to challenge the delay decision.

He continued by saying that no polling location in the city could not be used, and that there was no chance of rain on August 27 or 28. He noted that after the passage of 2.5 years, the PPP is still opposed to holding the LG elections.

The JI leader said that previous administrations stole billions of rupees’ worth of cash intended for cleaning. What has the PPP administration done to help the residents of Interior Sindh who were flooded? He inquired.

Naeemur Rehman declared that he will hold a sit-in at Shahrah-e-Quaideen Karachi to protest the postponement.
