The historic Fish House located in Clifton, Karachi, is slated for demolition and reconstruction due to its deteriorating condition, according to the Karachi Municipal Committee (KMC). The existing building and infrastructure of the Fish House are in a state of disrepair, and preparations are underway to estimate the expenses involved in demolishing the old structure and constructing a new international-style Fish House in its place.
The Fish House in Clifton, Karachi, has long served the middle-class citizens and their families, offering a place for relaxation and enjoyment. However, over the past decade, due to a lack of attention from KMC administration and relevant authorities, the Fish House has fallen into disrepair and had to be closed, leaving disappointed visitors to Ibn Qasim Park.
In light of these circumstances, Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab and Municipal Commissioner Afzal Zaidi, in collaboration with relevant authorities, have launched an initiative to revive the closed Fish House. KMC officials, accompanied by a technical team, conducted a thorough assessment of the Fish House, revealing that the building’s foundational pillars and infrastructure had significantly weakened. Following this assessment, the decision was made to demolish the existing structure and replace it with a new international-style Fish House.
Officials working at the Fish House have expressed their satisfaction with Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab’s plan for the reconstruction of this historic establishment. They emphasize that the Fish House holds cherished memories for the people of Karachi, and its reconstruction is expected to bring joy to the city’s residents once again.
