German Consul General Dr Rudiger Lotz met Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab at the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) head office to discuss matters of mutual interest and opportunities for cooperation.

During the meeting, Mayor Murtaza Wahab said there was significant potential for cooperation between Pakistan and Germany in various sectors.
He highlighted Germany’s progress in science and technology, as well as its experience in developing modern urban facilities. The mayor said Karachi could benefit from greater cooperation and knowledge-sharing in these areas.
Wahab said the city had made progress in upgrading its basic urban infrastructure with the cooperation of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, district municipal authorities and other relevant institutions.
“We have upgraded Karachi’s basic urban infrastructure,” the mayor said, adding that different civic bodies had worked together to improve facilities for Karachi’s residents.
The mayor also highlighted investment opportunities available in Karachi and invited German companies to explore the city’s potential.
He assured the German Consul General that German investors would receive assistance and facilitation from the relevant authorities.
Dr Rudiger Lotz said Pakistan-Germany bilateral relations should become stronger and more stable in the future, which would help expand cooperation between the two countries.
He also highlighted Karachi’s strategic importance as a major coastal city in South Asia.
Lotz noted that Karachi is home to two major ports and has an international airport, making the city an important centre for commercial and industrial activities.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for both sides to discuss areas where greater cooperation could contribute to economic, technological and urban development in Karachi.
