Under the revised rates, the price of a domestic LPG cylinder increased from Rs2,758.67 in March to Rs2,916.11, with the new prices taking effect from April 1, 2022.
According to the OGRA notification, the price of LPG was increased by Rs13.34 per kilogram for April.
The LPG price increase came after OGRA had previously notified an increase in average gas prices for consumers of the country’s two major gas utilities.
On March 2, 2022, OGRA approved an increase of up to 16.37% in average gas prices for consumers of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC).
For SNGPL consumers, the prescribed gas price was increased by 94 MMBTU, taking the average price to Rs670.37. The increase represented a 6.32% rise in the notified price.
For SSGC consumers, OGRA approved an increase of 50 MMBTU, raising the prescribed price to Rs829.48.
The latest LPG increase added to the cost pressures faced by households and other consumers using LPG as an alternative fuel.
