On Monday, Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication, Syed Amin Ul Haque, alongside Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Convenor MQM Pakistan, inaugurated the first-ever Digital IT lab at Rashid Minhas Government School for Boys and Girls in Karachi’s Nazimabad area.
During his address, the IT minister emphasized that this marks the first time a Digital IT lab has been established at a government school in Pakistan. The primary objective of this initiative is to equip underprivileged children with the necessary skills to contribute productively to the country’s development while empowering them to lead a better quality of life. This project is being carried out in collaboration with Ignite, a program that focuses on providing free IT education training, including content writing, freelancing, and 15 other courses.
The newly inaugurated lab is equipped with modern gadgets and facilities required for market-driven courses, making it a valuable resource for the school’s 300-plus students. The program aims to groom these underprivileged children, providing them with free-of-cost training, guidance, and assistance from top trainers in the IT field.
Minister Haque highlighted the importance of IT skills, noting that they will enable the younger generation to pursue rewarding careers and create their own business opportunities, ultimately contributing to the country’s GDP growth. He reiterated that the government’s vision is focused on long-term growth, exemplified by their commitment to providing connectivity to both rural and urban areas of Pakistan. The establishment of the Digital IT lab is a significant step towards achieving these goals and fostering a brighter future for the country’s youth.
