Tuesday saw the nationwide ban on Sheesha smoking by the federal government.
Sheesha sales will be prohibited in hotels, restaurants, and public areas, according to details. Additionally prohibited nationwide are the creation of new sheesha cafes and the importation and manufacturing of ingredients.
According to sources within the health ministry, the ban will be strictly enforced through the appropriate amendments.
According to sources, the official order banning Sheesha will be issued following the amendment.
The government outright forbade the import of tobacco used in sheesha in 2016.
In the past, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) ordered the local government to shut down all sheesha cafes in the federal capital immediately and to provide a report on the matter.
The court directed the Islamabad administration to immediately take action against the sheesha cafes operating in the capital and submit a progress report to the IHC.
The police and Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) along with the Islamabad administration have mobilized their resources to crackdown on all such places operating as sheesha cafes.
