Medical experts have expressed concern over the increase in dengue virus cases in Karachi and said that the number of cases reported by the Sindh Health Department is very low. Dozens of cases are being reported in Karachi every day, but the Health Department Either these cases are not being reported or these cases are confined to homes.

Addressing the press conference on Tuesday, Provincial Health Minister Dr. Ezra Fazal Pechuho also mentioned the increasing cases of dengue in Karachi and said that the rush in the hospitals has increased, the Infectious Disease Hospital of Karachi was also filled with dengue fever patients. However, they have not confirmed any death due to dengue virus. He said that a large number of dengue fever patients are present at home.

55 dengue virus patients were admitted in Jinnah Hospital yesterday. Ward 5 Doctor Assistant Professor Dr Umar Sultan said that more than 100 patients come to Jinnah Hospital’s OPD every day, but among them, those patients who are seriously ill and have low platelet count are admitted to the hospital. or who require hospitalization.

He said that at present 12 to 15 dengue patients are admitted in each of the 4 wards of Jinnah Hospital, the person infected with the dengue virus comes to the hospital only when he is critical or the symptoms of dengue fever start to appear. Others self-medicate at home, or go to small clinics close to home so they don’t have to go to the hospital.

Dr. Umar Sultan has appealed to healthy people to donate blood in a conversation with Sama Digital. He said that dengue is spread by the bite of a specific female mosquito ‘Aedes aegypti’ which thrives in clean water, therefore dengue virus cases are more reported in Karachi while malaria is also caused by the female mosquito ‘Genus Anopheles’. It spreads by biting, it thrives on dirt, that’s why where there is dirt there will be a lot of these mosquitoes, such cases are more reported in Sindh.

He says that dengue cases increase from August to November and if the situation continues, this time it is feared that dengue cases will be more than last year.

Dr. Umar further said that in this season, cleanliness should be taken care of, do not allow water to accumulate inside and outside the houses, citizens should wear full-sleeved shirts and socks on feet, keep windows and doors closed, in the house. If you have AC, run it, prevent mosquitos from entering the house by putting nets in the windows, if there is no AC, use mosquito nets, use ‘mosquito repellents’ to prevent mosquitoes.

He also says that the citizens should try not to collect water even while pouring water in the pots because this water causes the breeding of mosquitoes. Yes, it has been seen that water accumulates in these tires for weeks or even months and this accumulated water is the most suitable place for mosquitoes to breed.
