K-Electric has announced scheduled maintenance work on 65 of its 2,129 feeders across Karachi on October 8, 2026, resulting in temporary power outages in several areas of the city.

The power utility said the planned interruptions are part of its routine maintenance programme aimed at strengthening the electricity distribution network and improving the reliability and stability of power supply.
According to K-Electric’s maintenance schedule, the affected feeders will remain switched off for varying periods between 8am and 6pm, depending on the location and nature of the work.
The utility clarified that these are scheduled interruptions and should not be confused with unplanned power outages caused by technical faults, tripping or excessive system load. Electricity supply will be restored once the relevant maintenance work is completed.
Areas to Face Temporary Power Outages
Consumers connected to the affected feeders may experience temporary disruptions during the scheduled maintenance hours.
K-Electric has advised residents, businesses and other consumers in the affected areas to review the maintenance schedule in advance and make the necessary arrangements, particularly for activities that rely on an uninterrupted power supply.
The utility said the ongoing maintenance programme is part of its broader efforts to upgrade Karachi’s electricity distribution infrastructure and improve the overall reliability of power services across the city.

If Your Area Is Affected
- Charge phones, laptops, and any backup devices ahead of the scheduled window.
- If you rely on an electric water pump, fill storage tanks before the outage begins.
- Avoid opening fridges/freezers unnecessarily during the outage to keep food cold longer.
Power should restore automatically at the listed end time – if it doesn’t come back within an hour of the scheduled end, that likely indicates a separate fault, not the planned maintenance.
